Our staff consists of teachers with several years of teaching and choreography experience to bring your student the best training and creative atmosphere.
Tina Day - Artistic Director
Tina has been teaching for over 30 years. She has a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Buffalo State College. She performed professionally with James Dimmare Magic in Tokyo, Japan. She has won countless awards for her choreography. Of these awards she is a four time recipient of the prestigious "Al Gilbert Award" for excellence in the field of Tap. She has had choreography featured in Gladys Knights show at the Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Tina has also worked in wardrobe for "Vegas The Show" at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Tina has choreographed several High School musicals and is currently the Dance Team coach at Bob Miller Middle School. As the Director of Diamond Dance Studio, Tina has a 4 time defending National Champion Team.
Mary Beard - Instructor
Mary is a Senior at Las Vegas Academy of The Arts. Mary has been teaching for 2 years and in that time her choreography has won many Regional and National awards. She herself has been part of a 4 time defending National Champion team. Included in being part of the award winning groups Mary won FIRST OVERALL Senior solo at KAR National in 2016. Mary is loved by the students at Diamond Dance. In her Senior year Mary was selected to choreograph the all boys ensemble for LVA. She has won many awards and titles in her dance career and loves sharing her passion for dance with others.
AJ Ocampo - Instructor
AJ Ocampo was born and raised in Minnesota and trained in all dance disciplines at the Larkin Dance Studio. His training also extends from New York to Los Angeles. AJ was given the first award of Male Dancer of the Year by jazz master Joe Tremaine before heading off on his professional career. Some of his performing credits include two European tours with recording artist Mylene Farmer, the Country Music Awards, Shania Twain, recording artist Prince, the International Music Awards, Penn and Teller, Super Bowl, Gloria Estefan, Divas Live with Anastasia, Mary J. Blige, Cher, the Dixie Chicks and many more. He has worked in many shows along the Las Vegas strip, from being the featured tap soloist in Splash at the Riviera, dance captain for SpellBound at Harrahs to working with famed director and choreographer Jamie King in Storm at Mandalay Bay. While keeping busy at night performing in shows, AJ kept busy during the day performing in many Las Vegas conventions and trade shows. He also has theatre credits from coast to coast including the original Fosse Project workshop and a run of Journey to the West the musical in New York. His teaching credits include conventions with classes in tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, acro, contemporary and improv. His teaching style is challenging and technical yet fun and his choreography has won both regional and national awards. Some of his former students can be found on stages all over the globe. AJ is honored to find a home at Diamond Dance Studio and looks forward to what the future holds.
Gabby Carmello - Instructor
I was born and raised in Upstate New York before moving to Henderson NV 4 years ago. I have been involved in the dance industry for over 19 years. I have studied and trained in many styles of dance including hip hop, tap, musical theatre, jazz, ballet, lyrical and contemporary. As a competitive dancer for 9 years I had the opportunity to travel all along the eastern coast, winning many awards and national titles. During that time I also had the opportunity to be a part of my high school's Hip Hop Dance Team for 4 years as captain and choreographer. I have taken many master classes from top choreographers in the industry including Dave Scott, Cris Judd, Tyce Diorio, and Anthony Morigerato among many others at Broadway Dance Center in NYC, Millennium Dance Complex and The Pulse Dance convention. I am very excited to be a part of Diamond Dance Studio and I look forward to continuing to share my passion for dance with the students and helping them develop as dancers.
Lauralé Johnson - Instructor
I was Born in Provo, Utah shortly after my family moved to Salem, Oregon where they then decided Las Vegas is where we needed to be. I have been in the dance industry for 18 years. Growing up I competed in Dance competitions, beauty pageants and Cheer competitions winning many awards and national titles. When I reached high school I joined the Foothill Varsity Dance Team. We competed in my different dance competitions and became not only state but nationally ranked. Right out of high school I joined the Las Vegas Locos Professional Dance Team where I danced for three seasons. I have taken many master classes one of which included The Jabbawockeez. I have trained and studied in hip hop, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, modern and musical theatre. I am excited to share my passion for dance with these students and help them grow each and every day.
Betsy Lucas - Ballet Instructor
Born and raised in Portland Oregon. Betsy trained at School of Oregon Ballet Theatre. In 2003 she started dancing with the company in Oregon Ballet theatre's pre-professional division. In 2009 Betsy joined Nevada Ballet Theatre. Betsy has gotten the opportunity to dance many roles such as Clara in the Nutcracker, Russian girl in Serenade and Odette/Odile in Swan Lake. Betsy enjoys being able to help pass along the knowledge that her teachers have given and to share new discoveries of her own practice in the art form of ballet.
